A competition winner has collected her Hog’s Back Road Race prize from Guildford accountants.
The race is a 56-year old tradition which sees participants run an 11.7k course around the Loseley Estate and over the Hog’s Back in Surrey. This year, one of the race sponsors was local accountancy firm, Wilkins Kennedy, which held a competition to win a £100 sports retail voucher.
Gemma Nicholas was selected from more than 100 entrants who entered an online competition which ran over three weeks prior to the event and which was open to all race runners. Gemma has been running for three years and completed the race in just 1 hour 12 minutes alongside her husband, who was a first-time entrant into the race. They were amongst 824 finishers.
Gemma collected her prize from Wilkins Kennedy’s Guildford office. This was the first year the firm has sponsored the Hog’s Back Race, but with a number of keen resident runners, and a team of ten taking part in the race itself, the sponsorship seemed a good fit.
Bob Southey, Partner at Wilkins Kennedy, and colleague Debbie Saunders, greeted Gemma at the Guildford office and awarded her the prize. Bob commented: “Well done to Gemma for her prize win. We hope that she will enjoy spending the voucher. We were delighted to be part of the historic run and, with so many of our own runners here at Wilkins Kennedy taking part, we were very pleased to support the event.”
